About Betty

Elizabeth A. Donahue, known to all as Betty, is seeking the open Glens Falls City Judge seat being vacated by retiring Judge Richard Tarantino.

Betty Donahue is a 1975 graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and a 1979 graduate of the Albany Law School.  She was admitted to practice law in State and Federal Courts in January 1980.

She opened her own law practice at 513 Glen Street in Glens Falls in 1980 and has now been in continuous practice exclusively serving Glens Falls and its community for 34 years.

Over the years Betty has acquired extensive experience in both criminal and civil litigation and has specialized in Family Law.  Literally, thousands of area residents have called upon Betty for their urgent legal needs over the years, and their referrals have given her one of the busiest law practices in the Greater Glens Falls Area.

She is the former President of the Warren County Bar Association and has been a member of the Warren and Washington Counties Law Guardian Panels since 1980.

Betty has also served as a Special Prosecutor, having been appointed to that position twice by Judge John Austin.

Her areas of expertise -- Family and Criminal Law -- are the critical focus of the Glens Falls City Court, which handles all misdemeanors in the City of Glens Falls, as well as large numbers of Orders of Protection, along with many criminal felony arraignments, and small claims matters and evictions.

Orders of Protection in particular are of critical importance to the safety of our residents, especially women and families.  The issues  often arise out of complex family situations and require a sensitive and inquiring touch.
