Personal & Family

Elizabeth A. Donahue, known to all as Betty, is seeking the open Glens Falls City Judge seat being vacated by retiring Judge Richard Tarantino.

Betty is a life-long resident of Glens Falls and the Greater Glens Falls area.

Betty met her husband Joel Bobbick, while she was a student at SUNY Albany and Joel was a student at RPI.  They were married in the Presbyterian Church on Glen Street in Glens Falls a week after graduation in 1975.

Betty enrolled in the Albany Law School, where she graduated in 1979.  Joel continued on to graduate school at RPI.

After graduation Betty and Joel returned to Glens Falls where Betty opened her own law practice at 513 Glen Street, while Joel, an engineer, began a professional career at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, a leading defense contractor for the US Navy.

They have raised two sons - Tom and David.   Tom followed his father to RPI, where he graduated magnum cum laude, before heading to Pharmacy School.  He is now a pharmacist in Ticonderoga.

David traveled to Scotland, graduating from the University of Edinburg in Edinburg, Scotland, then graduating from the University of Glasgow Law School, with post-graduate work at the St. John's University Law School.

Along the way Betty was a hockey mom with hockey a big part of their lives for several years, their chief pastime.  "Hockey takes up a tremendous among of time," Betty observes, "But school had to come first.  Work really comes first in our family.
