Glens Falls City Court

The Glens Falls City Court handles both criminal and civil cases.  In Warren County, all felonies, the most serious crimes, are handled in County Court.  Misdemeanors are handled in City Court and town and village courts outside the City.  City Court also handles criminal arraignments, indictments, and issues search warrants in all types of criminal cases.

City Court also issues Orders of Protection, one of the Court’s most important responsibilities.   Orders of Protection are vital to the safety of our community, particularly women and families.  The issues  often arise out of complex family situations and require a sensitive and inquiring touch, not a bullying and blustering approach.

City Court holds a Small Claims Court so that citizens who cannot afford a lawyer have access to the legal system to address their claims.

The responsibilities of City Court are as complex and varied as life in a small city itself, and require a deep commitment and long term involvement in the community to understand them, cookie cutter legal approaches will not suffice.

As an attorney who has lived in and practiced law in our community, practicing mainly Family Law, but also criminal law, Betty Donahue is uniquely qualified to serve Glens Falls as City Judge.
